Pinwheels, Candy and Smiles

On October 22nd a few members of our St. Anne group with kids in tow, planted a pinwheel garden at Marywood.  The pinwheels looked so pretty when the wind blew.  After planting the pinwheels we delivered candy packages to the residents.  The candy packages were from Heart to Heart which is a group that employs those with disabilities.  This event was to promote national disability employment awareness month.

The Apparent Project

A few years back, a couple went to Haiti to adopt a child. While there they learned that most orphans in Haiti have 2 parents alive and well but due to poverty they cannot care for their child. This prompted the couple to do something in order to keep families together. Watch the video below and support Bon Secours Memorial College of NursingTeam Haiti 2015 by saving your cereal boxes.

The team will personally deliver the cereal boxes to the artisans when the travel to Haiti for a medical mission in March. Bon Secours nursing students were so moved by this organization that part of thier trip in March is dedicated to personally delivering cereal boxes to the Artisans seen in the video in order to create sustainability and keep families together! The boxes just need to be at least 8 inches in length.

Laura Vasel will be happy to collect any and all boxes to give the team to deliver.  Please bring them to our next meeting in October.  Thank you!

Here is a photo of the finished product.

We Are Beautiful

During our meeting in March we discussed Insecurity that women are faced with.  Check out this great video from Dove.  In it, an FBI sketch artist asked individual women participating in a study to either describe themselves or a stranger seated next to them earlier in the day.
The results showed very different images— the self-descriptions would reveal the women's insecurities. The clip juxtaposed the two descriptions to highlight the distorted-- inaccurate and less attractive -- verbal pictures women painted of themselves.

Remember you are BEAUTIFUL just the way God intended you to be!
